Studies
The most important current research of PBIDI, “Characteristics of invasive Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) is being undertaken to learn how the bacterium is so aggressive and is able to cause serious infection.
Isolates of MRSA causing invasive infections and isolates of MRSA colonizing persons in the absence of invasive disease will be evaluated for virulence factors associated with invasive disease. Identification of these factors may allow better understanding of how to identify virulent strains before they cause disease.
